Whereas, the GFWC Woman’s Club of Beckley is a member of the General Federation
of Women’s Clubs of West Virginia and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the world’s largest organization
of volunteer women; and
Whereas, the GFWC Woman’s Club of Beckley is a volunteer service organization that
has actively been serving this community for 94 years; and
Whereas, the GFWC Woman’s Club of Beckley is one of the 136 clubs in the GFWC West
Virginia Federation which promotes community service and volunteerism; and
Whereas, the GFWC West Virginia Federation and designated April as “GFWC Federation
Month” in honor of the 113th birthday of the GFWC.
Now, therefore, I, Emmett S. Pugh III, Mayor of the City of Beckley, do hereby proclaim
April 24, 2004 as
GFWC FEDERATION DAY
and recognize the contributions
to our city by the volunteer members of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Beckley.
